Bolton 1, Kerry 0

Via Gateway Pundit, video clips of John Bolton vs. John Kerry on North Korea policy. Bolton is clearly having difficulty containing his impatience with Kerry. Me, too. Pompous-yet-shallow is not an endearing combination.

  1. One reason why Bolton shouldn’t be confirmed is because he is under Senate investigation for spying on colleagues at the State Department, and for using the NSA intercepts to spy on Americans. The Senate has requested documents related to those charges, but the White House has not complied.

Senator Biden is insisting that Bolton should not get a Senate vote until those documents are given to the Senate. I agree with Biden. Why should someone with a highly unethical background represent America at the UN?

  2. Spying on his subordinates…..hmmmmm
Using intel collected by another agency….hmmmmm

    Filibustering a nomination….hmmmmmm

  3. First of all, Bolton is not “under investigation” for poor relations with his colleagues – this is a nomination hearing (unless the NYT quoting anonymous whiners is now an “investigation”). Second of all, if you actually listen to Bolton’s conversation with Dodd, you’d realize that Dodd concedes that Bolton’s request for the names of those involved in those intercepts was perfectly appropriate given his position and that his requests were approved after due process was followed (sorry, no “spying” going on here). Dodd actually considers being able to access that info important and wants to expand it to select members of Congress (which, again, you would know if you had listened to the testimony).

Tr basing your opposition to a nomination on facts not lefty talking points.

  4. Wow – just watched all (6 to 10 minutes) of Bolton destroying John Kerry’s arguments during the senate hearings on his confirmation to the U.N. post. Kerry was not ready to deal with someone smarter than he is. Every point was destroyed by Bolton using facts and logical thinking – both of which Kerry seemed a truckload short on today. Guess he should hire some new aids to prepare him for the real world. That was fun!
