Maybe They Should Get Out of Iraq…

A LEBANESE student suspected of trying to paralyse the German railway network with a bomb concealed in a suitcase appeared in court yesterday, as a huge police hunt for a second suspect continued.

The root cause of this is clearly that unequivocal German support for Israel, and for Bu$h’s war, which of course started this whole terrorism thing:

[T]he case has rattled Germans, many of whom have clung to the belief that their government’s opposition to the war in Iraq would insulate them from attacks like those in London or Madrid.

Why (sniff) do they hate us? I suspect that most Americans, at least, are well beyond asking, or caring.

  1. When Bush commented on “Islamic fascists” I knew such an assessment wouldn’t come out of the White House again after the usual suspects condemned it, and sure enough, he’s backed down since then. Now I wonder if Germany won’t recognize it for what it is, since they have some experience with fascism themselves.

  2. Joshua, I seem to have a problem with the part where you state; \”Bu$h\’s war, which of course started this whole terrorism thing\”. Now it isn\’t my job to keep track of world events, so help me out here. I admit there is much I do not understand! I have some questions.
    1. 1972, who held and killed the athletes in the Munich Olympics?
    2. 1979, who took over the US Embassy in Iran?
    3. 1983, who blew up the US Marine barracks in Beirut?
    4. 1985, who hijacked TWA flight 847 at Athens and murdered a US Navy diver in the doorway of the aircraft?
    5. 1988, who bombed Pan Am Flight 103?
    6. 1993, who bombed the World Trade Center the first time?
    7. 1998, who bombed the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania?

Help me out here. If it wasn\’t Muslim extremist, who was it?

  3. Guess your right Joshua. Good to Know. I reckon there is now little doubt bout my standing on terrorism is there. S0, another question; when does Iran get bombed? Surely it\’s coming?

  4. I don’t know if or when we will bomb Iran, but I wouldn’t favor it unless two conditions are met: (1) we perceive a substantial danger that Iran is imminently going nuclear, and (2) we assess that Iranian people won’t bump off the mullahs soon enough. Frankly, I favor helping (funding, training, and arming) native populations to rid themselves of tyrants rather than doing it for them whenever possible. Bombing has the disadvantage that it would rally the people around the mullahs. In fact, I suspect Iran’s nuclear program is the regime’s most popular aspect.
