Acting Out

Kim Jong-nam, the eldest son of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, appeared in Beijing on Sunday. Immigration officials at Shoudu Airport in Beijing said that Kim Jong-nam was included on a list of VIPs who arrived in the Chinese capital that day.

Kim, wearing a cap, sunglasses, and blue jeans, was first spotted in the afternoon by Japanese television crews at the airport. He stopped briefly in front of a hotel in Beijing to answer reporters’ questions.

“I have nothing to do with the six-party talks or the ongoing talks regarding the U.S. financial sanctions on North Korea. I came here for a personal reason,” Kim said.  [link]

I question the timing.  It’s rather hard for me to think that this guy had any official role when he keeps doing things this obvious, but since when have these people behaved like normal, rational people?  I suppose it’s possible he was cultivating a contact on the North Korean delegation, or trying to give that appearance, but I doubt it.

  1. Japanese TV news also linked him to Macau, and questioned him about his involvement with the sanctions placed on the Macau bank accounts. Suddenly he stopped being so cheerful and didn’t want to talk to anyone anymore.

Note, he has very good English and Japanese language abilities. He also said that he learned French while studying in Europe.

  2. it was reported that he was catching a flight back to PY for his dad’s 65th.

i could see that being true as KJI will probably struggle to his 70th.

  3. I’m obsessed with KJN. Despite stories of his european education, there is a media blackout on what exactly he did in europe, who his friends were, what school he went to… no interviews… no nothing.
It doesn’t make any sense for the story to be true.

    unless.

It is in the best interest of someone for there to be a media blackout. Although I just can’t see how any intelligence agency in the world could keep this story bottled up.

I don’t know what to believe when it comes to KJN.
