Korean Church Coalition Launches Ad Campaign on Behalf of N.K. Refugees

I’ve been encouraged about the direction of the movement to publicize the plight of the North Korean people since the KCC and its leader, Sam Kim, threw their weight behind it. They’re bringing much-needed money, manpower, organization, and clout to the fight, and now they’ve launched a modest ad campaign in Korean-language media:

I can’t wait to see how the Chinese netizens react to this. It’s probably true — though not necessarily helpful to their cause — that the image of the firing squad probably depicts Chinese police shooting a Chinese woman. Still, this is what is needed. Publicity begets enthusiasm, numbers, contributions, and more publicity. KCC’s newsletter also has some great images of protests at Chinese consulates throughout the United States, along with images and descriptions of the now-infamous Chinese riot in Seoul:

If you’re spiritually inclined — and perhaps, even if you’re not — you can join the KCC’s efforts here.

  1. The photo of the bound woman about to be executed is a Chinese woman convicted of murder. A series of images depicting the woman and a few others appears on a number of websites, and these images include a photo of the condemned wearing placards identifying their crimes. The woman has also been misidentified as Tibetan on some Free Tibet websites. At least the KCC didn’t include the gruesome photo of what happened to her head after being shot.

  2. It is really, really really sad that the lady being executed is a Chinese Woman. If the Chinese gov. will do that to their own people, their own citizen, imagine what they will do to a NK refugee, who is not their own. That is why the plight of the NK refugees in China is so urgent. Please pray for that woman in the video, as well as all the hundreds thousands of NK refugees who are as unfortunate. China is becoming a World leader, and must behave itself accordingly or the international community will not stand still.

I find that kind of hard to believe – thus far, the “international community” has managed to look the other way whenever China fails to behave nicely. Tiananmen Square, spy scandals, sweatshops, lopsided trade practices, you name it – as long as it’s someone else’s ox that’s getting gored, the “international community” will continue to let China get away with murder.

  4. By the way, the Leader of KCC is not Sam Kim, but our Lord Almighty. Second in command are the five pastors ispread out through all parts of the United States, and two in S. Korea. The overall President and CEO is Peter I. Sohn. Sam Kim is just the volunteer Executive Director and the Washington correspondent. Infact, all of the KCC staff, including Sam and all the director pastors, including Pastor Sohn, although many work more than forty hours per week for KCC, are all volunteers. At this time, there are no paid staff. If the web site looks a bit shady, please understand. It is all done by volunteers too. But they all have the passion and the desire that money can never buy, and none of us will stop until Freedom for All North Koreans is finally won. Who is KCC, it’s me, you, Josh, and anyone else who have the passion to see that the NK’s are finally freed.
