That’s Going to Cause a Lot of Confusion at the Betting Windows

So, depending on which source you’ve just read, Kim Jong Un is now either officially confirmed as successor, or the succession has been suspended until further notice.

One rumor has it that Jong Un’s undoing was his premature efforts to fire people, which happens to be exactly Ernst Rohm’s undoing (that, and the publication of his gay love letters in a Munich newspaper).

For what it’s worth — and I’d say, very little — Kim Yong Nam denies the Mainichi story.

So does this mean everyone can rush to the betting windows to collect? Actually, everyone loses, because as it turns out, the dauphin in waiting is not “Jong Un,” but “Jong Eun.” So there. And also, as I’ve said all along, Kim Jong Eun is extremely unlikely to hold any real power anyway.

Oh, those inscrutable North Koreans.

Update: Eventually, this roller coaster ride will end.

  1. Hello Josh…

Off topic, I know, but Drudge is reporting that the U.S. has agreed to scuttle the six-party talks and meet one-on-one with North Koreans. Looks like this is what we gave them in exchange for Bill Clinton’s “Humanitarian Mission” to free the reporters. I sure hope it is worth it.
