Kim Jong Il Death Watch

Our first merry vigil of the day comes in the way of several reports, which I’ll just link and let you read on your own:

– Kim Jong Il’s private train hasn’t moved for three months.

– A senior NSC official confirms that Kim Jong Il probably had a stroke.

– South Korea’s Defense Minister has raised media eyebrows with a reference to “diverse unstable factors” in North Korea.

  1. Here’s another. From the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), December 10, 2008:

The report in Korean by the official North Korean news agency basically says:

Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il visited a farm in November 2001. Upon sighting an unfamiliar type of radish, Kim asked a farmer about it. Informed that it was a new hybrid, marked by subtle overtones of sweetness with less heat than the familiar type, the General remarked that he wished to taste it at lunch. At lunch the General promptly asked for the new radish, and it was duly served. The great gourmand’s verdict was that it was less tasty than the kind he had tasted at this farm the year before. All present–farmers and soldiers alike–were moved to tears upon the realization that this was actually not the first radish taste test by the great man and that their leader was so intent upon providing his people with radish of better taste and higher nutritional value.

I’d say this sounds like a tragi-comic eulogy, North Korean style, if I didn’t know any better.

  2. I have a little under three weeks on the shelf-life of my prediction before I go onto the heap with the other fools who’ve guessed specifically at NK’s future….My fingers are still crossed, though
